Despite strong competition from developers from all over the West Midlands, Larry Shearer, site agent for Hawk Developments based at Prees Heath, won the West Midland regional heat in the Best Site Supervisor category of the LABC Quality Awards.

Larry will join over 600 of the industry’s professionals to celebrate the excellent buildings that were created in 2014 at the LABC grand finals, which will be taking place on Tuesday 10 November 2015 at the Lancaster Hotel in London.

Paul Everall, chief executive of LABC, stated: "The Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards celebrate all that’s good in the construction industry. Our awards aren’t really about aesthetics. Instead we look for other vital elements in the creation of excellent buildings: technical innovation, sustainability and high performance. We also seek the 'x factor' special working relationships that produce new or creative solutions.

And size doesn’t matter; LABC is delighted to recognise excellence in kitchen extensions, new homes, schools, retail centres or notable buildings like the Shard or Olympic Stadium."

Councillor Mal Price, Shropshire Council cabinet member for planning and housing, said: "These awards recognise and reward excellence which we can be very proud of. I congratulate Larry and wish him the very best of luck at the national awards.”

Phil Russell, building control manager at Shropshire Council stated: “This was a great event that showcased the very high quality building projects that have been constructed in the West Midlands over the past year. We're pleased to be involved with Hawk Developments, and wish Larry and the team every success in the finals. Shropshire Council Building Control is all about excellence achieved through building standards, technical innovation and sustainable designs.”
