Sustainable homes

The government's technical housing standards rationalise the many differing and previously existing standards, and reduce red tape associated with planning and house building. These standards replaced the Code for Sustainable Homes.

They include optional building regulations regarding water and access, as well as a national space standard (this is in addition to the existing mandatory building regulations). These additional options (which are comparable with the requirements for the former Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4) can be required by a planning permission.

Here at Shropshire Building Control we can carry out an assessment for your proposals. For a quotation, email or phone us using the contact details on this page.

Alternatively, you can complete a CSH full application form or a CSH pre-estimate application form.

...that when installing solar or photovoltaic panels on your roof the structural aspects of the roof require building regulation approval. This is to ensure that the roof is strong enough to support the panels.
