The Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) 2010 is a nationally recognised measure of deprivation at the small area (Super Output Area - SOA) level. It measures deprivation in its broadest sense by assessing indicators relating to income, employment, health and disability, education, skills and training, barriers to housing and services, crime and the living environment. The IMD 2010 updates the IMD 2007, for the most part retaining the same methodology, domains and indicators.
Seven forms of deprivation have been explored in order to create an overall measure of deprivation, these are listed below. For further information including maps of each domain (mapped according to national and local rank) please select the links on this page.

The 2007 summary report 'The Index of Multiple Deprivation 2007 in Shropshire County' which analyses the results at county, district and SOA level, as well as comparing the 2007 IMD with the 2004 IMD is also available.
