2001 Census Key Statistics
The 2001 Census Key Statistics for local authority areas were published by the Office for National Statistics in February 2003. This first slice of the census results included 25 tables of information intended to meet the needs of most casual users of the census results. Tables included information on population and age structure, marital status, ethnicity, religion, health, dwelling and household characteristics, migration, economic activity, qualifications, occupation and mode of travel to work.
A complete set of tables can be viewed on the National Statistics website by selecting the link on this page called 'National Statistics 2001 census web pages'. Alternatively the key statistics for electoral wards and other small areas can be viewed on the 'Neighbourhood Statistics' website by selecting the link at the bottom of this page. The Neighbourhood Statistics website is recommended as it contains a wealth of information in addition to the census results.
