Title of scheme

Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Package, Murivance and Claremont Bank Improvement Scheme

Description

Public realm enhancements are proposed at Murivance, St Chad’s Terrace, and Claremont Bank as part of the Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Package (SITP). These enhancements aim to create a pedestrian-friendly town centre environment, deter unnecessary cross-town vehicle movements, improve infrastructure for local residents, and improve the experience for people visiting Shrewsbury.

The improvement schemes include widened and repaved footways, a traffic lane reduction at Claremont Bank, new and/or improved pedestrian crossing points, carriageway resurfacing incorporating buff-coloured surface treatment at junction areas, and raised tables at St Chad’s Terrace and Claremont Bank. New loading bays are proposed at Murivance and Claremont Bank to facilitate deliveries to local residents and businesses.

Also included in the proposals is the removal of the existing ‘No Motor Vehicles’ restriction at the St John’s Hill and Cross Hill junction, towards Bellstone. The removal of this restriction is proposed to improve access in and out of the town for local residents.
