It may be the starting point for inspiration and encouragement for you to go further with your own learning and research.
There are Local history centres in libraries at:
- Bridgnorth
- Church Stretton
- Craven Arms
- Ludlow
- Oswestry
Visitors to these centres will be encouraged to experience and understand the past of their families and their communities through the presentation and special display of library, archive and museum material.
A wide range of printed and archival resources are available in the centres, and may include:
- Local books including local and family history reference books
- Commercial directories
- Census returns 1841 to 1901 and indexes
- Subject/parish packs
- Parish registers, other parish records, monumental inscriptions and nonconformist registers
- Maps and plans
- Catalogues to sources held elsewhere
- Periodicals e.g. local and national family history and local history publications
- Photographic and print collections
- School records
- Electoral registers
- Borough and local authority records
