The Museum Service has a large collection of original artefacts, replica objects and interactive games. These materials are used as a teaching resource and to illustrate Shropshire's rich heritage at special events, workshops and on teaching courses.
How are objects selected for the handling collection?
Some of the artefacts offered as donations to the Museum Service are already represented in our main collections. In other cases the information associated with the object concerning its history is minimal. In such cases these objects may be accepted into the handling collection where they are a valuable tool for bringing history alive for our visitors and students.
Who can use the handling collection?
Items from the handling collection are also available on loan to other groups and organisations for teaching purposes.
For further information or to arrange a loan contact the Museum Education Officer.
