Information about proposed strike action on Wednesday 30 November 2011
Council services in Shropshire are expected to face major disruption today (Wednesday 30 November 2011) due to strike action planned by public service trade unions.
The majority of local schools are closed, and schools have been in direct contact with parents about their individual circumstances.
Other council services will run at a ‘Christmas Day’ level, with all emergency and essential services, such as social care for vulnerable local people, still running.
Refuse collections will carry on as normal, but some other services are affected. Follow this link for the latest information.
Chief executive of Shropshire Council, Kim Ryley, said:
“We can assure residents that council staff have worked hard to minimise disruption, but it is clear that strike action on this scale will have an unavoidable impact on the public. Most local schools are closed to pupils, but all essential services will be covered today, and the majority of our leisure centres and libraries are still open. But, people are advised to check on our website for the latest information.”
