What is a parking waiver?
Waivers are available from Shropshire Council that allow temporary parking where parking restrictions normally apply.
They are available for:
- Building/maintenance/repair works where close proximity to the site is essential
- Goods deliveries in respect of which it is reasonable to allow longer that normally permitted by the regulations
- The hearse and chief mourners' vehicles at funerals
- The bridal and attendants' vehicles at weddings
- Other circumstances in which the council may reasonably regard the requirement to be essential
For information on waivers for health professionals please follow the link on this page.
The usual restrictions regarding dangerous parking, obstruction and footway parking still apply.
How do I apply for a waiver?
You can apply for a waiver by downloading and completing the application form attached to this page and posting it to the relevant Divisional Office (contact addresses are provided on the form). Alternatively, application forms can be obtained by phoning Shropshire Council's Customer Service Centre on 0345 678 9006. You should allow five working days before the waiver is due to start. In exceptional circumstances waivers may be paid for and collected on the day required but it is recommended that you contact the divisional office before you visit.
What is the cost?
Three types of waiver are available:
- To park on single or double yellow lines; these are available free for the first day, and at a cost of £10.00 per day from then on.
- If you regularly need a waiver for an appropriate activity in a limited waiting, pay and display and residents parking bays then you can apply in advance at a cost of £5.00 per day or £40.00 for 10 days. This would be vehicle specific but could be used at any time across the county.
- For parking outside your own property in advance at a cost of £5.00 per day or £40.00 for 10 days, this would be valid for any vehicle displaying the waiver but is location specific.
Payment by credit/debit card is preferred.
