Submit an application

The easiest way to submit an application is online via the Planning Portal. You can complete the application form, attach supporting documents and pay fees online, saving you the cost of printing and postage.

You may alternatively submit your application form online through the Planning Portal, and then submit your supporting plans, documents and fee directly to us, quoting your Planning Portal reference number.

Applications can also be submitted in their entirety directly to us, in person or by post to the following address:

Central Validation Team, Development Management, Shropshire Council, Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, SY2 6ND.

You may submit an application yourself, or, depending on the nature of the application, choose a professional agent to submit it for you.

What do I need to submit?

Information on what to submit with your application can be found on the 'application submission requirements' page. Please note that, in most cases, four copies of all documents will be required.

Application fees

The easiest way to find the fee for an application is to use the Planning Portal's online fee calculator.

Fee payment (if applying in person or through the post)

If you choose to submit your application in person or in the post, you can pay in the following ways:

  • online through our 'Pay For It' system (please ensure that the applicant's name and site address are included with the payment)
  • by debit/credit card over the phone by calling 0345 678 9004 (applications made online should quote the Planning Portal reference number allocated during submission)

Minerals applications

At present, planning applications for minerals development cannot be made via the Planning Portal. Applications therefore need to be submitted directly to us, either by following the 'applying in person' instructions above, or electronically to
