Professional Development Unit
The Professional Development Unit was set up in April 2005 to create a one-stop shop for the professional development of all social workers and occupational therapists in the social care and health sector.
Our customers are those people wishing to pursue or develop a professional career in either social work or occupational therapy.
We work within Shropshire County Council Community Services directorate and Children and Young People's services. We also work in partnership with the private, independent and voluntary sectors.
We currently support the following programmes:
- BA Honours in Social Work
- practice placements for all social work and occupational therapy under and post graduate courses
- K100 (Open University) Foundation in social work
- post qualifying framework for qualified social workers
- under graduate qualifications in occupational therapy
- post qualification training for qualified occupational therapists
- management and leadership programme for social care and health staff
- work experience programmes with local schools and colleges
