Secret Hills exhibition

There is loads to discover about the Shropshire Hills in the Secret Hills exhibition

The perfect place to start your exploration of the Shropshire Hills, the Secret Hills exhibition dips into the stories of the area and gives you endless ideas for other places to visit and things to go and see.

You can find out about the chilling Ice Age and meet our mammoth - a full size replica of the skeleton found at Condover, near Shrewsbury. You'll get a flavour of life in the Iron Age and discover the story of some of Shropshire's many medieval castles. You'll also see some of the people, places and products which continue to make the Shropshire Hills a special place today. There is plenty to interest the adults. To entertain the children during your visit we'll challenge them to become landscape detectives, with our Timeline Trail. Hopefully by the end of your visit, when you head out into the hills, you should be able to spot some of their stories yourself.

The centrepiece of the exhibition means you can take off with our film panorama: an innovative, cutting-edge movie presentation. It has been filmed using a high-definition, digital, four camera rig, fixed to a hot air balloon. This creates an extraordinary panoramic view of the Shropshire Hills, projected onto a 180-degree curved screen with surround sound, giving you the illusion of actually drifting across the landscape.

The following charges apply to the exhibition only (you can visit the rest of the centre for free):

  • Adult £3.50
  • Senior £3.25
  • Child £3
  • Under 5s Free
  • Family ticket £10 (A family ticket entitles up to two adults and three children to entrance to the exhibition)

If you are accompanying a disabled person as their carer entrance to the exhibition is free.

If you are bringing a school party of ten or more please follow the link Educational Visits.

If you are bringing a group of ten or more please follow the link Group Visits.

When you visit the Secret Hills exhibition you'll be given Tusker's Timeline trail. In addition to activities for children, you also get tokens for £2.00 off one of our £13.50 GEOcaching trails, a complimentary copy of a guide to one of our three circular walks, and free entry for yourself when you bring back some paying friends and family to the exhibition.

The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday every week from 10am. Last admission is 4.30pm.
