Report a faulty streetlight

shropshire council van and lamp column

Faulty streetlights

Faults with streetlights are usually caused by the failure of the lamp or another electrical component. They can also be caused by the failure of the electrical supply, vandalism or accident damage.

How to report a faulty streetlight

To report a faulty streetlight please complete the streetlight fault report form on this page or contact us on 0345 678 9006. We carry out night inspections of streetlights every four weeks so we might already be aware of a faulty streetlight.

It will help us respond to the fault if you have the following information to hand:

  • Name of the road the streetlight illuminates
  • Town or Parish name
  • Lamp number - located on a label fixed to the lamp column
  • Location - e.g. outside houses 62/44, or opposite etc
  • Type of fault - e.g. not lit, on all day, flashing on and off, flickering, very dim etc

Whilst the majority of lights are the responsibility of Shropshire Council, some are maintained by the Town and Parish Councils. If this is the case we will pass the report on for you. To find out which streetlights are the responsibility of Shropshire Council please follow the link to our LocalView mapping system and select the Shropshire maintained streetlights layer.

For more information on how we fix faulty streetlights please follow the link on this page to faulty streetlight FAQs
