BUZZ aims to explore new ways of enabling young people to take part in activities that focus on achieving their aspirations within their local communities. We will design and test activities in 2 settings, one a rural town/village and the other, a market town, and also explore how involving significant adults, such as an older sibling, friend or grandparent in these activities can support young people’s development.
BUZZ will primarily be delivered through Shropshire Youth Association whose aim is to inspire and motivate young people by giving them more opportunity to make informed choices and to give them control over their aspirations and the support required to maximise their independence and achievements.
This is an exciting and rare opportunity to be involved in making the future better for young people in Shropshire and beyond!
We are currently looking to fill two posts:
Researcher
Dream Catcher wanted to help us change the world!
Do you feel young people are the answer not the problem? Can you help young dreamers turn their ideas into reality? Are you prepared to be part of something amazing?
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and understanding to help with research for a 6 week period from Mid August to October. Working alongside Shropshire Youth Association and their partners, you will be spending time with young people finding out what makes them tick and what it takes to have a great time growing up. You will be able to listen, explore and understand and be able to translate what you hear in interesting ways.
Experience of working with young people would be great but is not essential as you will get lots of support and work alongside a team of people who believe that research should be more than just clipboards and questionnaires! We just want you to have a passion for making a difference and want to work in a way that is flexible and imaginative.
Interested? Give Dee Ploszay a call on 01743 254687 to find out more, or you can apply by emailing Dee at dee.ploszay@shropshire.gov.uk to request an application form. The job description and person specification for the post are attached to this page.
All completed application forms to be returned to Dee by 12pm Friday 10 August 2012 and please feel free to include your CV and something to tell us why you’re the right person – this could be a brief paragraph, a film or why not surprise us!
Shortlisting will take place on Monday 13 August 2012 with interviews to be held on Friday 17 August 2012.
