Alastair has over 30 years' experience in the construction industry with 19 years’ experience working in Building Control. Prior to joining Shropshire Council, Alastair’s previous employment included Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council and Vale Royal Borough Council.

Before joining the building control profession Alastair worked at Cheshire County Council in the Architectural and Building Services Department. In addition to his professional duties Alastair has also been a full-time lecturer in construction and professional studies at South Cheshire College.

Alastair is a corporate member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers and holds a BA (Hons) degree in architecture from John Moores University, Liverpool and has also successfully completed the LABC Level 6 fire safety assessment to demonstrate competence in higher risk and complex buildings.
