Ed is a corporate member of the Association of Building Engineers and holds a BSc(hons) degree in building surveying from Sheffield Hallam University. His career as a building control surveyor with LABC includes working for Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council and, initially, at Epping Forest District Council in Essex following graduation.

Ed has over 20 years’ experience in local authority building control, has specialist technical knowledge of the building regulations guidance and supporting documents, and regularly provides help and advice to clients, agents and contractors on a wide variety of projects, from small domestic too large and complex retail, commercial, leisure, heritage and health care projects.

Ed has developed a great working relationship with our agents and clients, and now undertakes plan checking services for our LABC-registered partners' projects in locations all over England and Wales. He currently has projects as far away as the Isle of Wight, the North Wales Coast, and northern parts of Yorkshire.
