The Committee received an overview from Mrs Howie, Principal Policy Officer Housing on the preparation of the Shropshire Core Strategy, including the consultation on the “Policy Directions” document, at their meeting on 21 September 2009. The Final Plan version of the Shropshire Core Strategy has now been published and representations on the 'soundness' of the plan have been invited from Monday 15 February until 5.30pm on Monday 29 March 2010. It is available to view on the Shropshire Council website at shropshire.gov.uk/planning.nsf. The Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD) sets out the strategic planning policy for Shropshire, including a spatial vision and objectives. It also sets out a development strategy which identifies the level of development expected to take place within Shropshire up until 2026 and a number of Core Policies which will help to achieve the vision. Representations will be sent to an independent Planning Inspector in preparation for the Examination in Public following the submission of the Core Strategy to the Secretary of State in summer 2010. The submission documents can be inspected at Shropshire Council’s principal offices and are also available to view at all libraries and Customer Service Points in Shropshire within normal opening hours. Notification has been received that Broseley Post Office will close on Wednesday 3 March at 5.30 p.m and re-open at Spar Stores in the High Street on Friday 5 March. During the short period of closure customers may use any convenient Post Office. The nearest ones are Ironbridge Post Office, The Square, Ironbridge, Telford, TF8 7AQ and Madeley Post Office, 3 -4 Russell Square, Telford, TF7 5BB.

Members of the Public will also be able to ask questions and make suggestions for future agenda items.
