Amongst the recommendations was a proposal that Broseley and Much Wenlock Divisions should work together as one LJC from 1 April 2011. This, together with certain other geographical changes, was withdrawn to be brought back to Cabinet/Council following detailed discussions with impacted divisional Members by the end of November 2010.
10.  Information Items
10.1.  Innovating Mobile Library Services
Shropshire Council have been examining how best to provide services delivered by the mobile libraries and home delivery services. The review is being carried out by a cross-party group of elected members, including Milner Whiteman. The consultation period ended on 4 October. It is intended to present a report to Cabinet in January 2011.
10.2.  Community Games 2012
The Community Games project aims to bring the inspiration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic to the West Midlands through a series of "Community Games". Shropshire has a strong Olympic connection through Much Wenlock, where Dr William Penny Brookes formed the Wenlock Olympian Movement, which later become the inspiration for the modern Olympic games. Alongside the sports which we now associate with the Olympic Games, the Much Wenlock Olympian games also included arts events, music and cultural activities which involved the whole community, and its this aspect that is being celebrated by the "Community Games" events. The aim in Shropshire is to hold 88 events across the county, and involve 21,000 participants in a wide range of activities. These could be linked to sports clubs, but the organisers are also keen to get communities across Shropshire to think about what "community games" they can run in 2012 to mark the Olympic Games.
