Minutes:

Public questions were submitted by Mr C Lemon relating to speeding issues in the Radbrook area of Shrewsbury and by S Mulloy relating to Mardol House. 

 

The response to Mr Lemon was provided by the Portfolio Holder for Transport and Highways and it was noted that the response to Mr Mulloy, who was not able to be present, would be sent to him after the meeting.

Minutes:

Councillor J Dean asked a question relating to the current Preferred Sites Consultation documents and the scoping of the sustainability objectives into criteria as part of the Local Plan review.  The Portfolio Holder for Planning and Housing Development provided a response; the question and response form part of the formal record of the meeting.

RESOLVED:

i)          That the draft “Private Sector Housing Enforcement Policy” as set out in Appendix 1 be approved for consultation

ii)         That the Regulatory Services Operations Manager undertake an eight week period of consultation, the feedback from which and the proposed policy be brought back before Cabinet for further consideration prior to presentation to Council for adoption.

 

 

Minutes:

The Portfolio Holder for Adult Services, Health and Social Housing presented a report from the Director of Public Health on the draft Private Sector Housing and Enforcement Policy that had been produced and would be subject to an eight-week consultation period. 

 

He explained that the Policy had been drawn up to reflect new powers given to Local Authorities under the Housing and Planning Act 2016 to impose civil penalties of up to £3,000 as an alternative to prosecution and the extension of rent repayment orders.  He stated that these measures would help the Council tackle rogue and irresponsible landlords but stressed that Shropshire landlords were generally of a very high standard.

 

RESOLVED:

That the recommendation of the Shropshire Schools Forum on the funding formula for Shropshire schools for the financial year 2019/20 for maintained schools and the academic year 2019/20 for academies, be accepted.

Minutes:

The Deputy Leader joined the meeting from this point.

 

The Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People presented a report from the Director of Children’s Services setting out the proposals agreed by the Shropshire Schools Forum on 22 November 2018 on the funding formula for 2019/20.

 

The Deputy Portfolio Holder for Education had attended the Shropshire Schools Forum meeting and drew particular attention to the Appendix detailing the particular issues that had been considered at the Forum meeting.

 

RESOLVED:
