Do we need consent from the family to share information?
We're committed to being open and honest with families from the outset as to why, what, how and with whom their personal information will be shared. We urge professionals to gain written consent when seeking an early help consultation, or when making a targeted early help referral, by completing a consent form.
What happens if a family doesn't give their consent for information to be shared?
It could lead to a delay in them accessing the right service at the right time. Practitioners should also consider why a family may not give consent, and if this changes their assessment of the family’s level of need.
