Food complaints

There are a number of common complaints about foreign objects in food which are either normal parts of the food or harmless contamination, most of which can be dealt with by returning the item to the retailer. When returning the item to the retailer it is helpful to obtain a reference number.

Other food complaints may have food safety implications and need to be dealt with by the Health Protection Team at Shropshire Council. If you feel there is a food safety risk you can contact us, and we can discuss the matter, or you may prefer to fill in the attached form and return it to food@shropshire.gov.uk

Please note that in order to pursue your enquiry all requested information must be provided. Anonymous complaints or complaints shared on social media will not be considered. This information will however be used in accordance with our intelligence led procedures.

You can report poor hygiene practices using the Food Standards Agency website.

The team may then request further information before the matter will be considered.
