Shropshire Council

Future Oswestry Group

The Future Oswestry Group is made up of representatives from Shropshire Council, Oswestry Town Council and Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID).
The group was set up to review the priorities in Oswestry’s 2020 Neighbourhood Plan and to help deliver activities and projects that will benefit the town, its residents and its businesses.

The group was set up in 2019 and meets regularly either online or in person.

Key members of the group include:

  • Councillor Robert Macey and Councillor Chris Schofield representing Shropshire Council
  • Councillor Duncan Kerr (Chair) and Councillor Olly Rose representing Oswestry Town Council
  • Adele Nightingale and Tim Morris representing the Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID)

Support is provided by officers from Oswestry Town Council, Oswestry BID and Shropshire Council.

The Future Oswestry group was set up with the aim of making Oswestry a town where businesses can thrive, where families want to live and a place where tourists want to visit and enjoy. The group has already helped support and develop the town-wide Future Oswestry Plan which offers ideas and aspirations for the future of the town, securing funding for the High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) programme to restore and transform the high street and its historic shopfronts, supporting the successful Love Oswestry events and contributed to the development of the draft walking and cycling proposals for Oswestry.

Two volunteer community representatives, Peter Lloyd and Craig Marston were appointed in 2021 to assist the Future Oswestry Group to shape engagement and collaboration opportunities for the enhancement of the town.

As the post of Community Representative is for a two year period, the Future Oswestry Group is currently seeking applications for the role of Community Representative to act as an ambassador and community representation champion to support the development of the sectors’ views, communicate views to the Future Oswestry Group and provide feedback to key interest groups and the wider sector.

This interesting role is ideal for someone who wants to support the development and delivery of key regeneration activities and projects in Oswestry that will benefit the town, its residents and its businesses, working alongside the Future Oswestry Group.

The job description and application form are available on this webpage or you can email Futureoswestry@shropshire.gov.uk if you have any queries on the submission form or application process.

When you are ready to apply, you will need to complete and submit the application form by 4 March by 5pm and email it to Futureoswestry@shropshire.gov.uk

We look forward to hearing from you!
