Introduction

‘Vibrant Shropshire, Independent by Nature’ forms a new draft Cultural Strategy for the unitary area of Shropshire 2021- 2031. The document sets out the ambition and strategic priorities for the cultural sector for the next 10 years. The strategy will help deliver the planned Community and Rural Strategy for Shropshire, focusing on keeping people happy and healthy, helping people who are lonely to connect with others, embracing the skills and experience of the older generation, attracting and keeping young people in the county.

The draft Strategy was developed in partnership with a range of stakeholders. A Cultural Strategy Working Group ensured a partnership approach and engagement opportunities were provided though a series of individual and group meetings and larger workshops. The feedback obtained enabled the development of an evidence base (see appendices) and the draft strategy which can be found under documents at the bottom of this page.

It is now important to consult on the draft document before it can be formally approved and implemented. A survey is provided as a way of collecting feedback. Find the survey link on the ‘Get Involved’ section of this webpage.
