A neighbourhood engagement event is taking place on Tuesday 11 August 2020 at the Village Hall, Church Street, Ruyton XI Towns, SY4 1LA regarding the proposed change of use of Yardley House, Brownhill, Ruyton XI Towns, Shropshire SY4 1LR to a small children’s residential home.

Yardley House is the third property purchased as part of the Children’s Services Residential Growth project, which aims to keep Shropshire’s looked-after children in council-run placements within the county. Yardley House will aim to accommodate four children.

There are a number of benefits to keeping our children within the county – the surroundings are familiar to them which gives them greater stability and this is better for their emotional health and wellbeing. They are also closer to their wider family, school, friends and leisure interests.

Additional to this there are substantial cost savings for the council and taxpayers, most notably in the reduction of cost in placing our children in council-run residential homes within the county, rather than in private residential homes out of county. There is also a reduction in time spent (and associated costs) by our social workers who would have to travel to visit children in out-of-county homes.

Attendance at the event is by appointment only to ensure compliance with Covid regulations. You can make an appointment by emailing propertystrategy@shropshire.gov.uk
