With an extended bank holiday weekend to celebrate the historic milestone of Her Majesty The Queen’s 70 years of service approaching, there's lots of opportunities to come together and celebrate. On this page is some guidance and ideas to make the most of the Platinum Jubilee Weekend of celebrations from 2 to 5 June 2022.

Street parties

There will be plenty of street parties and other events held across the UK - find your nearest event on the Platinum Jubilee website.

Planning to host a street party? Applications for road closures have now closed, however if you have confirmed your road closure and are planning your party, you can find out more about organising street parties and what you need to do on our 'planning an event' pages. Having food at your street party? The Food Standards Agency website have lots of useful information to keep your event safe for everyone.

Planning on having licensable activities at your street party like live music and selling alcohol? Apply for a temporary event notice (these cost £21 and must be applied for at least ten days before your event). Find out more and apply on our licensing pages.

Missed the road closure application deadline? Find out more about organising a Street Meet with your neighbours on the Street Party website, or get involved with The Big Jubilee Lunch.

Once your event is planned, share details of your street party on the Platinum Jubilee website.

The Big Jubilee Lunch

An annual event that this year coincides with the jubilee, The Big Lunch is an opportunity to celebrate community connections and get to know one another a little better. It will take place on Sunday 5 June, and there are lots of resources to help you to get involved. Don’t forget to download your free Big Lunch pack, add your event to the Big Lunch map, and search for events near you!

Join the Platinum Jubilee conversation by sharing your events, activities, tributes and creativity using the hashtags #PlatinumJubilee and #HM70 and tagging @DCMS on Twitter or @dcmsgovuk on Instagram and Facebook.

Platinum Jubilee beacons

On 2 June thousands of beacons will be lit by communities, charities and groups throughout the regions of the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories. Find out more about the background of the beacon lightings on the Queens Jubilee beacons website. You can also check your local groups and organisations to see if there’s a public beacon lighting event near you. If you’re unable to attend a local Beacon event, we’ll be streaming the beacon lighting at Shrewsbury Castle live online for you to enjoy. More details to follow.
