Options after school

Education must be provided to children under 18 years of age. This can be offered through multiple platforms, as outlined below. There are many options to look at when leaving school that are not restricted to simply college or getting a job. Laws have changed to empower young people to enjoy more choice and control over their post-16 options. We hope that the information here helps you to make the right choices about your future.

*Supported internships are designed for students who want to go into employment but may need additional support within the employment environment.

Where young people choose to continue in education, the authority and further educational providers will work with the young person and their family to ensure that they're supported to achieve their best possible educational outcomes with the resources available, in preparation for adult life.

The Preparing for Adulthood organisation have produced this useful guide which will give you further information.
