20. Motions
The following motions have been received in accordance with Procedure Rule 16: 20.1 The following motion has been received from Councillor Martin Bennett: "This Council requests Shropshire MP’s to lobby for a change in the law relating to Local Government Finance to enable those Parish and Town Council who wish to make use of the BACS system for payments to creditors to do so." 20.2 The following motion has been received from Councillor Charlotte Barnes: "Council notes that Barclays Bank PLC have indicated they intend to shut their Bishops Castle branch on the 29th June. Since the announcement a petition asking for Barclays to keep it open, organised by local member Cllr Charlotte Barnes, has currently attracted over 600 signatures. The campaign to save the branch from closure is supported by the local MP, the Town Council and has attracted widespread public support in the area. In the light of this Council resolves to write to the Chief Executive of Barclays Bank asking that the bank consider other options, such as shared banking, instead of closing their Bishops Castle Branch."
