4. Minutes and any matters arising
To confirm the minutes of the last meeting held on 1 May 2012 (attached marked ‘4’). Jim Stabler provided written updates on the following: Matters Arising: (A) Paths for Communities Fund – We have submitted four expressions of Interest (EOIs) to Natural England in respect of the Paths for Communities Scheme (P4C). There are, however, problems with the Natural England (NE) rules covering the scheme. The money for the scheme was provided to NE by the Rural Development Project for England (RDPE). NE say that match funding cannot be provided by either volunteer time or any other source of public funding such as Council funds or other grant funds. This is not true of other RDPE funded projects such as LEADER where we have used both volunteer and Council funds as match. The map they have provided to show what are urban and rural areas does not seem to work and shows Much Wenlock and all of Corvedale as being urban! This is clearly wrong. These points have been taken up with the Council and NE funders and the questions are being escalated up to the RDPE senior manager for clarification. Until such clarification is received the EOIs cannot be progressed. Copies of the four EOIs are attached (marked 4A) (B) National Trails - Natural England is currently reviewing the management of National Trails. As part of this review, they have launched a targeted consultation, which ran from 10th May 2012 and ends at midnight on 5th July 2012. Because of the time constraints, a Working Group was set up to consider this Forum’s response and the results have been entered into the electronic survey on the NE site. This response is attached (marked ‘4B’). Individual responses can be made via the following link: http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/questionnaire.asp?PageId=58
