Bridgnorth

This group is open to any adult carer. The group invites speakers to attend most meetings. The carers attending decide on the programme, 3-4 weeks in advance.

It's a safe space for mutual support. Tea and coffee provided. 

Location: The Severn Centre, Bridgnorth Baptist Church, Bridgnorth

Time and date: Meets on the fourth Monday of each month (no meetings on bank holidays), 1:30pm-3:30pm

Church Stretton Carers Support Group

Drop-in support with free refreshments for both carers and cared for person.

Opportunity to chat, share experiences, build friendships and support networks. Help with signposting and referrals, form filling support.

Alzheimer’s society available every other month in attendance

You don't have to live in Church Stretton to attend.

30 carers emailed monthly and approximately 10 attend each session.

Cleobury Mortimer

Cleobury Carers group is an opportunity for carers to chat, share experiences and ideas in a safe environment, experience the knowledge from experts by experience through having speakers on subjects agreed by the group.

Carers are also joined by the Stroke Group and Parkinson’s Group. As a close community, it was decided to join groups for more valued support for people living with the conditions, and their carers.

Ideas and suggestions on group topics each month are welcome. Programmes of events are sent out quarterly.

Ludlow Carers Group

Ludlow carers is a peer led support group – through feedback they didn’t wish for speakers and formal program however they are happy for people to come and sit and chat with them in an informal setting (CCC's from both surgeries regularly attend)

Market Drayton Carers Group

Market Drayton carers group is for anyone undertaking a caring role in an unpaid capacity.

An opportunity for carers to chat, share experiences and ideas in a safe environment. Ideas and suggestions on group topics each month are welcome.

Much Wenlock Carer Connect

Carer Connect is a support group dedicated to our unpaid carers. It provides an opportunity to meet other carers and to connect with support services within the community.

Booking is essential. Refreshments provided and an activity each month.

Oswestry (Adults with Learning Disabilities)

Oswestry Carers Group for people caring for an adult with a learning disability. The group provides information and activities, social interaction with others and practical advice.

Location: Avalon Day Centre, Victoria Road, Oswestry

Oswestry (all adult carers)

Oswestry Carers' Support Group offers practical and emotional support to all carers. The group provides up to date information on a range of topics, a variety of interesting speakers and activities and a place for carers to socialise with each other.

Pontesbury & Rea Valley Carers Group

Pontesbury & Rea Valley Carers Support for anyone undertaking a caring role in an unpaid capacity.

The group is to give carers space to meet and chat in a relaxed and supportive setting, to have some time for themselves and to share information with each other.  

The group can accommodate cared for individuals for those carers who could not attend otherwise and where they can manage being in a separate group and do not need 1:1 or personal care.

Quatt, Carer Connect

Carer Connect is a support group dedicated to our unpaid carers. It provides an opportunity to meet other carers and to connect with support services within the community.

Shrewsbury Carers Group

The group is to give carers an opportunity to meet and chat, to share experiences and information in a relaxed and supportive setting.

There is a varied programme of activities and speakers throughout the year.

Shrewsbury (Dementia Carers Group)

The group is to give carers the opportunity to meet, share experiences and information and offer emotional support in a relaxed, safe and supportive forum.

There are occasional speakers on topics relevant to those caring for someone with a dementia diagnosis.

Shrewsbury- Still Caring Group

Still Caring is a social group for people who are or have been until recently, caring for someone else.

Who is it for:

  • Carers who are no longer physically caring, or their caring role has come to an end
  • Carers who are isolated by their current caring role but are able to leave their cared for person, for a short time, and want to socialise with others

We can:

  • Offer a friendly face and warm conversation over a cuppa
  • Introduce you to others who understand your situation
  • Inform you of other activities happening locally
  • Share stories without judgement
  • Help build confidence with returning to a social situation

Location: Various Shrewsbury coffee shops with occasional walks or other outings
