4 Chestnut Close, Shrewsbury, SY3 8UJ (20/02744/FUL) PDF 230 KB Erection of single storey and two storey extensions, alterations and improvements to existing dwelling and driveway
Minutes: The Principal Planning Officer introduced the application for the erection of single storey and two storey extensions, alterations and improvements to existing dwelling and driveway. Members’ attention was drawn to the information contained within the Schedule of Additional letters.
In accordance with virtual meeting speaking protocol a statement was read out from Mr Neil MacDougall on behalf of his mother, Mary MacDougall, owner of No. 3 Chestnut Close, Copthorne, objecting to the application.
Having considered the submitted plans and listened to the comments made by all of the speakers, Members expressed concerns that the proposals were overdevelopment of the site and would have a negative impact on the character and appearance of the area.
RESOLVED: That planning permission be refused, contrary to the Officer’s recommendation, on the grounds of overdevelopment of the site and the impact on the character and appearance of the area. |

Erection of a self-build dwelling and formation of vehicular access
Minutes: The Principal Planning Officer introduced the application for the erection of a self-build dwelling and formation of vehicular access. Members’ attention was drawn to the information contained within the Schedule of Additional letters.
In accordance with virtual meeting speaking protocol a statement was read out from Councillor Tony Parsons, the Local Member.
Having considered the submitted plans and listened to the comments made by all of the speakers, Members expressed their concern at the proposals relating to the proposed development not being in keeping with the surrounding street scene and original plan of the estate and the impact on neighbouring properties.
RESOLVED: That planning permission be refused, contrary to the Officer’s recommendation on the grounds of overdevelopment of the site, the proposals not being in keeping with the surrounding street scene and original plan of the estate and impact on neighbouring properties.
Councillor Vince Hunt abstained from voting as IT difficulties had meant that he had not been present for the whole of the debate.

Having considered the submitted plans and listened to the comments made by all of the speakers, Members expressed their support for the proposal.
RESOLVED: That planning permission be granted, in accordance with the Officer’s recommendation, subject to the conditions in appendix one of the Officer’s report and an additional condition requiring colour and materials to be agreed.
