Councillor Cecilia Motley was elected Chairman.

Councillor Jonny Keeley substituted for Councillor Hartin and Councillor Christian Lea substituted for Councillor Woodward.

The minutes of the meetings held on 4 February 2019 and 18 March 2019 were confirmed as a correct record, subject to the correction of the work ‘county’ to ‘country’ in the second paragraph of section 48 of the March minutes. 

 

The Overview and Scrutiny Officer reported that a detailed report on the Community Overview Committee’s concerns regarding Rights of Way was being prepared for the Committee’s consideration at its next meeting, with a view to the Chairman presenting this at Cabinet. 

 

The Chairman reported that she and the Overview and Scrutiny Officer would be clarifying which areas relating to Public and Community Transport came within the remit of the Committee, to ensure that all scrutiny activity was undertaken in a coherent and structured way.

The Overview and Scrutiny Officer provided an update on existing work programme topics:

 

22 July 2019 - Further work on Public Rights of Way

16 Sept 2019 – Digital Transformation Programme (from a Customer perspective)

16 Sept 2019 – Food Poverty

 

Much of the Committee’s work was currently being undertaken through Task and Finish Groups.

 

The Chairman referred to the need for the Committee’s input on Engaging Diverse Communities and the development of the Council’s Rural Strategy.  The Chair reported that she was about to  meet with the Director of Place to discuss development of the Rural Strategy and she envisaged this as a significant piece of work for the Committee.
