To receive the Cornovii Developments Limited Update Report from the Assistant Director Homes and Communities, Place.  (Report to follow)

        Members received the report of the Assistant Director Homes and Communities which gave an update from Cornovii Developments Limited (CDL) on the company’s progress since the last meeting of the Board.

The Assistant Director Homes and Communities introduced the report and advised Members of the recent recruitment of two new posts, a Sales and Aftercare Manager and Development Officer and noted that in addition to these posts CDL was also working with the Finance Team to recruit a Senior Commercial Accountant.

        Members noted that CDL had recently launched its new brand identity, logo and corporate values and had established a digital presence with social media pages supported by a new website due to go live mid-February.

        The Assistant Director Homes and Communities referred to the update provided in relation to the sites at Crowmoor, Ellesmere Wharf, Ifton Heath and Tilstock Road, Whitchurch and noted the following points in relation to each site:

Crowmoor

Morris Property have been appointed as the main contractor and demolition of Crowmoor House commenced in January 2021. There have already been over 40 expressions of interest registered by potential home buyers.

Ifton Heath
A revised scheme had been submitted to Shropshire Council Planning Services in early December 2020 with a decision anticipated in late Spring 2021.

Ellesmere Wharf
The application was approved at the Northern Planning Committee held on 9^th February 2021.

        Tilstock Road, Whitchurch

        CDL continue to meet regularly with Brenig Construction to resolve the Section 106 legal agreement and have appointed APD Architects to draw a new masterplan. An updated feasibility study would follow and it was noted that CDL were working with partners to engage with Welsh Water to resolve the rising main connection issue.

In response to a Member’s question regarding whether there had been any further analysis of housing demand in Shropshire, the Assistant Director Homes and Communities explained that CDL was paying close attention to the current housing demand. The Managing Director of CDL, added that the housing market was in a state of flux at present due to Covid-19. He stated that he could not provide any further information at present but the trend for working from home and moving out of urban areas had been accelerated by Covid-19.
