Petition to make Gains Park Way Safer

We the undersigned petition the council to We, the undersigned, are residents and regular users of Gains Park Way. We are deeply concerned about the speed of traffic along this road, which makes it unsafe for children, families, and pedestrians to cross safely. We respectfully request that Shropshire Council take urgent action to: - Reduce the speed limit on Gains Park Way - Install traffic calming measures such as speed bumps, signage, or crossings This petition aims to make our community safer and prevent potential accidents.

Many residents and families in the Gains Park Way area are deeply concerned about the high speed of traffic along this road. Cars frequently exceed the current speed limit, making it very dangerous for pedestrians — especially children walking to school, parents with prams, and elderly residents.

Crossing the road is difficult and often feels unsafe, particularly during school hours and at weekends when children are playing nearby. Several near-misses have been witnessed, and the risk of a serious accident is high.

We are therefore requesting that Shropshire council urgently investigates this issue and takes action to improve safety by:
• Reducing the speed limit (e.g. from 40mph to 30mph, or 30mph to 20mph)
• Installing traffic calming measures such as speed bumps, raised crossings, or warning signs
• Considering a pedestrian crossing in areas where children regularly cross

This action would significantly improve safety for residents, make the area more family-friendly, and help prevent potential accidents in the future.
