Shifnal is home to a growing number of grassroots football clubs, academies, and school teams — yet there are currently no suitable local training facilities.

Existing grass pitches are poorly maintained, frequently waterlogged, and often unplayable, forcing teams to cancel sessions or travel out of the area to train. This limits opportunities for children, young people, and adults to take part in sport year-round and affects both physical and mental wellbeing across the community.

A 3G facility in Shifnal would:

Provide reliable, year-round access for local clubs, schools, and community groups.

Support grassroots development and player retention.

Encourage health, wellbeing, and community cohesion.

Reduce the need for travel to neighbouring towns for training.

We urge Shropshire Council to work with local stakeholders, the FA, and funding partners to identify a suitable site and move forward with plans to deliver this much-needed community facility.
