The Portfolio Holder for Business, ip&e, Culture and Commissioning (North) presented a report by the Director of Commissioning on proposals to update the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy in order to better reflect the Council’s priorities and outcomes for 2014 to 2017.

During his presentation he referred to the decision of the Young People’s Scrutiny Committee arising from their scrutiny of the Council’s overall approach to licensing and to the comments and public questions received on the matter. He drew members’ attention to a series of proposed amendments which had been tabled at the meeting and indicated that these new proposals would help to address the Committee’s concerns and many of those raised by the public.
