This Committee covers the work previously
undertaken by the
Communities Overview Committee and the
Place Overview Committee
The Economy and Environment Overview and
Scrutiny Committee review the implementation of existing policies
and consider the scope for new policies with regard to all aspects
of the discharge of the Council’s ‘place shaping and
universal population services’ functions concerning
climate change and the environment, economic growth, highways
infrastructure and connectivity, housing, culture and leisure,
flooding and water management, 16+ Learning and Skills, and
Community Safety. The Committee does this by:
1.
Assessing the effectiveness of decisions of the
Cabinet in these areas of the Council’s statutory activity
and relate overview and scrutiny to the achievement of the
Council’s strategic priorities and objectives as described in
the Shropshire Plan – Healthy Economy and Healthy
Environment.
2.
Make reports and recommendations as appropriate
arising from this area of overview and scrutiny.
