Part night lighting is where streetlights switch on at dusk and remain alight until around midnight, when they switch off. They then switch on again at around 5.30am and remain alight until dawn.
Part night lighting is being introduced over a three year period, starting in April 2012, and the principal reasons are to reduce harmful carbon dioxide emissions and save vital funding.
How will I know which street lights will be affected?
You can take a look at the map below which gives details of the street lights included, split by this and the next two financial years. You can also follow the links below which will take you to 'street by street' information by area. There is additional information which can be found in the downloads and attachments section at the bottom of this page.
There is also a link to a recent news article about the project in the related information section below.
To use the map, enter your postcode in the 'search' box and then try ticking the Conversion Programme 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 boxes in the top right corner to see if the lights near your house will be converted. You can also tick the 'Lights staying as dusk-dawn operation' to see which lights will stay as they are.
We are only showing Shropshire Council owned and maintained lighting on the map. If the lighting outside your house is not shown, then it will probably be owned and maintained by your local town or parish council.
