Self-build register

Interested in building your own home?

We're working towards increasing serviced plots of land for self-builders. If you're interested in designing, building or commissioning your own home, please sign up to the self-build register. This will help us identify the kind of plots you need and let us keep you up to date on future developments.

What is the register?

We're now required by legislation to keep a register of individuals and associations seeking opportunities for self-build or custom-build housing. The Housing and Planning Act 2016 requires that authorities must take into account the register when carrying out their functions in relation to planning, housing, disposal of land and regeneration.

The government's Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Regulations 2016 encourage house building across the country.

Our register will hold some basic details for those people with a genuine interest in building their own home in the Shropshire Council area (you can view a list of the parishes in our area and an outline map from the links and documents attached to this page). Having completed a short online form, details will be transferred to the register. We'll then use this information to inform you of available or upcoming plots or opportunities in the areas you've expressed an interest in.
