Oswestry SUE

With Oswestry Innovation Park set to create hundreds of high-quality jobs, the town will also need high-quality new homes.

The Oswestry Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE) was identified in the adopted core strategy as a strategic location for development to help to meet the town’s future housing and employment needs.

The SUE will include the provision of up to 900 new homes together with associated open space and community facilities.

The unlocking of the Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE) in Oswestry will help to facilitate and assist in bringing forward a comprehensive development of housing in a planned and managed way to ensure that the principles of sustainable growth are brought forward.

This, alongside employment development potential at the Oswestry Innovation Park, will help to mitigate future climate impact, enhance sustainable linkages, and reduce the need to travel for work within the area.

Delays on the development of housing and the lack of serviced employment land threaten the role and function of the town and the wider rural hinterland and its sustainability, resulting in continued outflow of investment and business relocations and a significant gap in the delivery of new homes, which further limit the town’s opportunity to grow.
