Shropshire Council

Self-build homes

We're now required by legislation to keep a register of individuals and associations seeking opportunities for self-build or custom-build housing. The Housing and Planning Act 2016 requires that authorities must have regard to the register when carrying out its functions in relation to planning, housing, disposal of land and regeneration.

The government's Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Regulations 2016 encourage house building across the country.

Interested in building your own home?

We're working towards increasing serviced plots of land for self-builders. If you're interested in designing, building or commissioning your own home, please sign up to the self build register. This will help us identify the kind of plots you need and let us keep you up to date on future developments.
