We're are pleased to announce the Shropshire Armed Forces Family Fun Day, proudly supported by Wace Morgan solicitors, as part of the county’s celebrations for Armed Forces Day. The event is a family-friendly day full of activities, whilst allowing visitors to show their gratitude towards Armed Forces personnel, both past and present.
The event will take place at Shrewsbury Castle on 29 June 2024 from 11am and 3pm, will be free to attend, and give visitors the chance to learn something new about the UK’s Armed Forces.
Throughout the day, there will interactive activities for all the family from local emergency services, charities and a range of children’s activities. Visitors can also enjoy a line-up of live music throughout the day and a number of local food & drink stalls.
Event highlights not to be missed includes tours of the Castle, children’s activities and free SmartWater tagging of military medals. Both Shropshire Council and Wace Morgan are holders of the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award and have been recognised for their respective efforts to provide exceptional support to the Armed Forces community.
As well as hosting the family fun day, there will be other offers to benefit both serving personnel, veterans and their families at the Council’s leisure centres and those run by its partners on Saturday 29 June and Sunday 30 June (2024).
These include:

We will also be celebrating Reservists Day on Wednesday, 26 June 10am – 2pm in The Square in Shrewsbury. We will be joined by our local reserve unit 8 Rifles. During the day we will be talking to people about the benefit of employing reservists and what they can bring to your organisation.
Cllr Ian Nellins, Deputy Leader and Armed Forces Champion for Shropshire Council, said:
‘We are incredibly excited to welcome all our local members of the service and show them the appreciation they deserve.’
‘As a holder of the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award, we owe it to our servicepeople to support them in any way we can. It’s fantastic to know that many other organisations across the county are joining us in the effort to express our gratitude.’
‘The day will be full of fun and interesting activities for all the family. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there on Armed Forces Day.’
