Aquamira is situated in Sutton Park, Shrewsbury. We provide day opportunities for people 19+ who have multiple and profound learning disabilities.

The Hydrotherapy pool

At Aquamira, we work alongside physiotherapists who will recommend either a hydrotherapy programme or a leisure swim programme - both can be effective in maintaining mobility, movement and wellbeing. Please note that the pool is currently closed due to technical issues.

The Green Spaces Project (started in 2021)

We value our outdoor environment and have created new spaces for ongoing garden and maintenance projects such as growing vegetables, the compost project, planting flowers, encouraging wildlife, fence painting etc. It’s also a great place to relax and socialise with our friends.

Makachat/Makaton

Makaton/Makachat is a way of communicating with the use of signs and symbols alongside speech. It can enhance communication for people with learning disabilities.

Multi-sensory room

Our multi-sensory room offers users a variety of sensory experiences, from the changing colours of the star ceiling/disco ball whilst listening to your choice of music to the soothing motion of the waterbed whilst relaxing to the sound of the waves. In this room we also have the projector screen where you can watch big-screen movies, or interact with the interactive magic mirror.
