A529 Adderley – Speed Limit

Description

Speed reduction from 60mph to 30mph is proposed to reinforce the appropriate speed of travel on the approach to the 20mph speed limit at the village of Adderley, facilitating and improving safety for vehicular traffic and all road users.

An extension of 40mph speed limit south of the County Boundary is proposed to reinforce the appropriate speed of travel on the north bound approach to the bridge and the existing 40mph speed limit, facilitating and improving safety for vehicular traffic and all road users.

Speed reduction from 60mph to 40mph is proposed to reinforce the appropriate speed of travel throughout the bend and on the approach to the 30mph speed limit and 20mph speed limit at the village of Adderley, facilitating and improving safety for vehicular traffic and all road users.

Speed reduction from 60mph to 50mph is proposed to reinforce the appropriate speed of travel throughout the route and on the approach to the extended 40mph speed limit near the County Boundary and on the approach to the village of Adderley, facilitating and improving safety for vehicular traffic and all road users.

Speed reduction from 30mph to 20mph at Adderley Primary School is proposed to reinforce the appropriate speed of travel outside the school within the village of Adderley, facilitating and improving safety for vehicular traffic and all road users.

Regarding the wider context of the scheme, proposals are being considered in three zones which include street lighting, traffic calming and an upgrade of signage as shown on scheme drawings 70050867-WSP-HMK-PKF-DR-CH-1204-P01, 70050867-WSP-HMK-PKF-DR-CH-1205-P01 and 70050867-WSP-HMK-PKF-DR-CH-1206-P01.

Zone 1 includes a 20mph speed limit and associated changes in speed limit to the north of Adderley for which the formal consultation in being undertaken. 

Comments regarding Zones 2 and 3 are invited to inform future phases of work.  The street lighting and traffic calming elements of these works are not currently being programmed as the cost of electrical connection is prohibitive, but the proposals may be implemented as and when funds can be allocated.

Shropshire Council proposes to reduce the speed limit on the following roads in and around Adderley:

20mph Speed Limit

That length of the A529 which runs between Audlem and Hinstock from a point 121 metres west of its junction with Station Road, Adderley to a point 413 metres west of its junction with Station Road.

30mph Speed Limit

That length of the A529 which runs between Audlem and Adderley from a point 413 metres west of its junction with Station Road, Adderley for a distance of 191 metres in a generally north westerly direction. 

That length of the A529 Audlem Road from a point 324 metres south of its junction with Rectory Lane to a point 121 metres west of its junction with Station Road.

40mph Speed Limit

That length of the A529 which runs between Audlem and Adderley from a point 604 metres west of its junction with Station Road, Adderley for a distance of 311 metres in a generally north westerly direction.

50mph Speed Limit

That length of the A529 which runs between Audlem and Adderley from a point 139 metres in a generally southerly direction from the county boundary at the southern end of Green Lane, Audlem at the centre of the watercourse to a point 915 metres north-west of its junction with Station Road, Adderley.
