Title of scheme

A529 Woodseaves to Market Drayton – 40mph Speed Limit

Description

An extension of the existing 40mph speed limit by 143m is proposed at the southernmost junction of Woodseaves where the side roads lead to Goldstone and Wistanswick. The proposal is to extend the 40mph speed limit from the existing location north of the junction to a location south of the junction and extend 26m into the Woodseaves to Goldstone road facilitating and improving safety for vehicular traffic and all road users.

The A529 between Hinstock and Audlem has been highlighted by the Road Safety Foundation as a section of high concern and therefore attracted funding from the DfT Safer Roads Fund. The rationalisation, update and improvement of signage at the junction and the relocation of the speed limit 40mph terminal signs support the safety countermeasures highlighted by the DfT. Incorporating the junction into the 40mph speed limit will highlight the likelihood of vehicular manoeuvres at the side roads including farm machinery.
