The Canal and Rivers Trust have become aware that the current 6 tonnes axle weight limit restriction on Hawksmoor Canal Bridge is over 30 years old and is no longer legally enforceable.

It is intended to replace it with a modern equivalent of 10 tonnes maximum gross vehicle weight to legally protect Hawksmoor Canal Bridge.

THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (RECTORY LANE, ADDERLEY) (10T WEIGHT RESTRICTION) ORDER

Shropshire Council proposes to make the following changes to the weight restrictions in Adderley:

REVOKE

Revoke the 6T weight restriction on the length of the Adderley - Hawksmoor Farm Road which is carried by Hawksmoor Canal Bridge over the Shropshire Union Canal.

NEW RESTRICTION

Introduce a new 10T maximum gross weight restriction on the length of Rectory Lane (A529 to Hawksmoor Farm) which is carried by Hawksmoor Canal Bridge over the Shropshire Union Canal.
