There are no changes proposed to Shropshire Council’s admission arrangements for 2023/24 for community and voluntary controlled schools that require consultation.

However, the Council is co-ordinating a consultation exercise for own admission authority schools in Shropshire whose governing bodies are responsible for setting their admission arrangements and who wish to make changes. We wish to notify all parents/carers and interested parties that the consultation will begin on 6 December 2021 and continue for more than 6 weeks until 21 January 2022. The proposed admission arrangements subject to change are laid out in the attached documents below.

The following own admission authority schools have proposed these changes:

  • The Priory School in Shrewsbury is refining the definition of sibling to extend to younger sibling connections as well as older siblings.
  • Thomas Adams School in Wem is proposing the addition of ‘children of staff’ criterion to their policy to align with the policies of other schools in the 3-18 Trust and extending the sibling connection to apply to younger as well as older siblings.
  • Ludlow Primary School, part of the Diocese of Hereford Multi-Academy Trust, is proposing a reduction to their Published Admission Number from 75 to 60.
  • Claverley CE Primary School, a voluntary aided school, is proposing a reduction to their Published Admission Number from 17 to 16.

The following voluntary aided schools are not proposing changes, but they are consulting on their admission arrangements to comply with the 7-yearly consultation requirement of the School Admissions Code:

Worfield Endowed CE Primary School

St Mary's Bluecoat CE Primary School

For information only (not part of the consultation):

Hadnall CE Primary School is increasing the Published Admission Number from 12 to 15.

Meole Brace School is increasing the Published Admission Number from 243 to 270.
