Following objections to a proposal to introduce a permanent joint use bus stop and night-time taxi bay in this location, Shropshire Council has decided to implement the same restriction on an experimental basis instead. This approach gives the opportunity to monitor any detrimental impact of these changes on local businesses before deciding whether or not to make the
bay permanent.
These changes will also:
- improve the amenities of the Castle Foregate area by providing a suitable place for Hackney Carriages (Taxis) to legally and safely operate from
- lead to a swifter conveyance of people from Castle Foregate following night-time leisure activities increase the night-time economy of the area
- offer more sustain
THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL

(EXPERIMENTAL WAITING RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2013
When this Order comes into effect on 19 December 2013, the following parking restrictions will apply:
- No Waiting At Any Time/No Loading Mon-Sat 8.15am-9.15am, 12.15pm-1.15pm and 4pm-6pm on the side of road specified in Schedule 1
- No stopping except buses between 5am and 10pm and taxis (hackney carriages) between 10pm and 5am on the side of road specified in Schedule 2. This order will operate for a period of up to eighteen months, and the Council will be considering in due course whether its provisions should continue in force indefinitely.
A copy of the order, a relevant plan, and a statement of the Council's reasons for making the order, may be examined during normal office hours at the Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, and at The Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury.

If you wish to question the validity of the order, or of any of its provisions, on the grounds that they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order you may, within six weeks from 19 December 2013 apply for the purpose to
the High Court.
