Cheshire Street, Market Drayton - proposed pedestrian improvement scheme

We're proposing to introduce a pedestrian improvement scheme on the A529 Cheshire Street as part of the DfT (Department for Traffic) A529 Safer Roads Fund.

Cheshire St works plan

The proposed scheme is for a zebra crossing with built-out footway located between 101 Cheshire Street and 7 Cheshire Gardens. This is designed to provide a safe pedestrian crossing point between Maer Lane and Frogmore Road. The southern footway, which is currently a sub-standard width, will be widened to approximately 1.7m making it safer for pedestrian use. To facilitate these pedestrian improvements the capacity of the parking bays (south side) will need to reduce slightly, and the existing bus layby (north side) will be removed.
