Over the past two weeks, SSR has posted over 20 different messages in the Ukrainian WhatsApp group, ranging from various activities to useful information.

Activities & Therapy Sessions

Last month SSR launched a 9-week "We can" non-contact boxing programme for children aged 9 to 14, free entry to Attingham Park and a great offer from Children's Football Academy "Kickstarts" to hold football classes for children in August. SSR has organized a variety of activities/events for both adults and children, and SSR plans to do even more!

SSR held an art class in the Hub with Natalia Denysova on 04/05/24 and got nice feedback. During this art class, Ukrainians had an opportunity to draw an illustration using the techniques of the famous Ukrainian Petrykivka painting, the art of free people. SSR has also got the great opportunity to give away five free family tickets to the Shrewsbury Food Festival on 30 June 2024. In addition, SSR has launched free Swedish massage sessions in the Hub by certified massage therapists Veronika & Maria.

Music & Film

Ukrainians also had a great opportunity to listen to a brilliant performer from Ukraine, Galyna Grigoriadi, at the Holy Trinity Church in Telford (12/05/24). On 18/05/24, Ukrainians will have the opportunity to watch the film "Women" at the Severn Theatre in Shrewsbury by a very talented Lora Arkhypenko.

Counselling

Ukrainians now have the opportunity to receive free (according to their income) counselling from a team of highly qualified counsellors who are ready to listen and provide invaluable mental and emotional support, along with expert guidance to empower Ukrainians on their journey to wellbeing.

Surveys

SSR has also been running several surveys, including whether Ukrainians would be interested in free acupuncture sessions & free employment and coaching sessions and where Ukrainians would like to go this summer with Shropshire Supports Refugees. Ukrainians still have the opportunity to complete the survey, because everyone's opinion is important to SSR!

Northern Lights & Eurovision

In other news, we all got to see the northern lights in the sky in Shropshire. It was an incredible beauty that you don't see every day. But the most important news: Ukraine took 3rd place at Eurovision 2024!
