Leaf fall sweeping schedule
During the autumn, we undertake a programme of leaf collection throughout the county as part of our routine sweeping. Accumulations of leaf fall, especially when wet, can make conditions difficult for both pedestrians and drivers. In places where it's been identified that excessive leaf fall has previously caused an issue with pooling or access issues, one additional visit by a dedicated team has been scheduled. We monitor the weather conditions prior to starting work to ensure that we optimise the effectiveness of that additional visit, as we'll be unable to visit multiple times.
Where we clear leaf fall
- Footways / cycleways
- Highways
- Council car parks
Where we don't clear leaf fall
- Commercial premises
- Residents’ properties
- Unadopted carriageways
We don't collect leaf fall from private property or residents' gardens even when it's from a tree situated in the footway. Leaf fall on private property is the responsibility of the property owner.
Please don’t be tempted to sweep or blow leaves from your gardens onto the road or pavement, which will undo the good work by our teams and may cause a hazard.
